New Collibra UI - mandatory in October 2024?

Our success team has shared with us that the new UI will be mandatory as of October 2024. That seems overly aggressive, given that the new UI is in beta until May?

We have not enabled it, after briefly looking at it in February, because of a workflow task sequencing issue that is supposed to be addressed with the May release. Generally, our team was struggling with the new UI, and has opted to not use it at this time. Everyone is concerned that the new UI May be forced upon us in October.

Appreciate any insights!

I am curious about this as well because we have found that the HTML formatting in the beta version currently does not display our HTML dashboards that well with no apparent way to modify things like font spacing / sizing directly except for pre-designed values.

I can play with it a bit, but the text/HTML dashboards are used to convey information, and it is a shame that quite basic HTML isn't able to fit within a fairly large computer monitor.

@daverichard That is our general problem/dislike as well. Everything is styled so large, that it is hard to navigate via the new interface. I understand it's for accessibility, but other tools from i.e. Microsoft have different sizing and options.

Thank you for your comments and questions! To confirm, yes, it is our intention that the new UI be the default for all customers with the October 2024 release. This timeline has been determined from customer conversations where overwhelmingly the feedback has been to get the new UI (and many of the features that are available only in that new UI) into production as soon as possible. This also follows the GA in May, which then has a full release in July and again the October release that we will continue to be making iterative improvements to the new design.

I would like to connect and better understand the challenges your organizations' are encountering specifically. Since our Private Beta in November and the Public Beta in February, we have been hard at work addressing as many of the customer-reported issues as possible, including a significant number of them that were just released with our 2024.04 launch (and more also coming in the May launch). In those versions there were resolutions to some of the spacing/header/sizing feedback, as well as improvements to HTML usage in workflows and dashboards, so I would like to understand how much of a better experience or impact these have had on your feedback thus far if you've had a chance to try the latest version.

@korycunningham thank you!

One of our main issues (a stop for us) has been the task sequencing in workflows, specifically global workflows. I understand that will be addressed in the May release.

We will be turning the new UI back on in our Test environment and collect feedback comprehensively from the whole team. I did notice in our UAT environment that some of the spacing has gotten better.

Would love to connect after we have some team feedback to share! Should I just reach back out here?

After some trial and error, I was able to work-around the main issue - where the HTML code was being auto-replaced with code from what was in the Rich Text editor. The issue is that if you click in that Rich Text area, the HTML code is automatically replaced with whatever is displayed. The only way to back out of that change is to cancel the edit of the widget.

As long as you only edit the widget, and immediately click on the HTML editor then your HTML code will remain intact and will allow for manually applied HTML editing. The default font sizing can then be managed so that prior text will fit into the window without scrolling off screen.
