Enable Fixed Dropdown list of TAGs // ensure consistency and accuracy
Summary: ANDREAS WINTHER, Andreas Winther, proposes an improvement to the current tagging system in the forum. The suggestion is to replace the manual tag entry with a fixed dropdown list of predefined tags. This enhancement aims to ensure consistent and standardized tagging, prevent duplication and spelling errors, improve search and filter reliability, and reduce moderation efforts. Andreas also suggests allowing admins to manage the list of approved tags and considering an 'Other' option with a review process. The request is open for support and suggestions from the forum members.
Hi everyone,
I’d like to propose a feature improvement for our tagging system. Right now, tags are entered manually, which can lead to duplicates, misspellings, and variations of the same concept. This makes it harder to search for posts and to keep the forum organized.
We see a need for the tags to be more in control from Admin point of view, and that is important to avoid chaos.
I know we can create the Custom attribute with fixed values, but then we would move away from Collibra out of the box solution, and that I'm not a fan of. :)
Feature Request:
Please add a fixed dropdown list of predefined tags that users can select from when creating or editing a post.
Why this would help:
Ensures consistent and standardized tagging
Prevents tag duplication and spelling errors
Makes searching and filtering more reliable
Reduces moderation overhead
Helps new users understand the expected categories
Optional Enhancements:
Allow moderators/admins to manage the list of approved tags
Include an “Other” option if needed, but ideally with review before it becomes a permanent tag
If others agree, please add your support or suggestions below. Thanks!

·5 months agoAndreas - I also ran into that problem and banned the use of tags. Instead, I created a code list (for example - Colors) and then populated it with the allowable colors (red, green, blue). Finally, I built a relationship between my Color code list and the appropriate asset type. Whenever a new color is required, an issue is created and I add the new color.
