Any limitations creating / building a lot of validation rules?

Hello Community

Has anybody experienced any issues or limitations if you were creating / building a lot of validation rules? Anything specific to be considered while scripting the validation rules? Limitations could be effectivity, speed, easiness, bundling of rules in scripts.
