Collibra MCP Server question
Summary: Brian Lloyd expressed uncertainty about whether the "Local Version" of the Collibra MCP Server can work with a SAAS version of Collibra, based on a post seen on the Collibra Marketplace. tomaskissik, who is also exploring the MCP Server, explained that the local or generic version can indeed work with the Collibra SaaS and is open-source, although only community-supported. Additionally, there's a Databricks version that is supported by Collibra vendor support but requires IdP/JWT setup, which tomaskissik is currently trying to configure.
I just ran across the Collibra Marketplace post for the Collibra MCP Server (Local Version) (Collibra MCP Server (Local Version) - Collibra Marketplace) I am not certain if this, as a "Local Version", means that this can only access a locally installed instance of Collibra (not the SAAS version) or not.
Does anyone have experience in this working? Can it work for a SAAS version of Collibra, or do we need to acquire something like this? Conversational Metadata Management – MCP Server for Collibra - Collibra Marketplace

COLLIBRA__GET_LINEAGE_ENTITY : The transformation SQL details are not accessible (404)
COLLIBRA__DISCOVER_DATA_ASSETS : HTTP 403: {"statusCode":403,"titleMessage":"Forbidden","userMessage":"Missing required scopes: dgc.ai-copilot","errorCode":"forbidden"}
Currently I am using admin user for credentials
Also would like to know if any one was able to use the Collibra OAuth with MCP, instead of having to Provide the USER & Password.

I have started to look into the MCP Server option too. Collibra has published two versions in 2025.11:
What they refer to as Local or Generic version can be installed on a local Linux machine and it works with Collibra SaaS, it's opensource and only community supported
There is also Databricks version available that can be installed via DBX Marketplace listing and supported by the Collibra vendor support
There is a bit more info at Collibra Model Context Protocol (MCP). I'm trying to set up the DBX version, but it requires IdP/JWT setup which I haven't been able to figure out yet.
