Collibra Role to create Community and Domains
Hi, I would like to give permission to couple of Data Governance team members to have control over Business Glossary section of the catalog. I would like them to create/manage Community, Domain, Business Term, Acronyms, assign responsibilities etc. I am not able to figure out which Global Role to use which will allow them to create New Community. I don’t want to give then Sysadmin role. Thanks.

OP3 years ago · EditedThanks @shiroshana.tissera for the detail information. So that means that SYSADMIN needs to create the Community and assign Community Manager role to other team members to manage that community. Also, that means that ONLY Sysadmin role can create Community. Is that correct ?

·3 years ago · EditedHi @raj.malwade Yes, the root-level community has to be created by someone like ADMIN. Until then the resource level permission is not available to the user. Once the user is added as a Community Manager at the root community they can create sub-communities or domains etc and add other users to roles as well.
Creating root-level communities is a controlled action as we don’t expect a lot of communities to be created at that level. The root communities typically mirror bigger lines of businesses (Finance, Marketing etc). As such, creating root-level communities is not something that will happen very often.
The document I have attached may help further with setting your community domain structure and what are the pros and cons of various different methods.

There are two different types of roles available in Collibra. One is global roles and the other is resource-level roles. The business Glossary section of the catalogue is controlled by the global roles. You can control the access to the glossary via the following permission
However, what shows up in the glossary tab is a set of assets that belong to specific asset types available through out collibra platform.
To create communities, domains or assets, the users would need specific resource-level permissions.
If it’s to create a top-level community, the SYSADMINS will need to do that and add specific users as the community manager.
Once that’s done, the community manager acts as the “Admins” for the community and can add users to other resource-level communities within that specific community. They can create, change or delete domains or assets with specific communities as well.
Hope the explanation provides enough details to clarify the question. If not please let us know.
Thank you
