Loading information into the form payload (pre) and saving (post) using Workflow Designer (dynamic forms)

I require the ability to take a form's payload and save it (intact) during the processing of a complex screen. I also would like to pre-load a form with this same information.

Background: We have the need to enable the user to perform creation of information over one or more sessions. They should be able to reload the form with existing form / subform / panel / subform level information based on how that information was previously entered. This requires from my perspective the ability to interact with a form's payload ahead of the form being available.

Trying to find clear directions on what I would have thought to be a basic requirement seems to be difficult to find. Perhaps others have had success in enabling this.

Note: I can pre-condition the default values and are aware of execution.setVariable. My goal here is to drive complete load, change and processing after the payload is finalised.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Wondering if you figured this out? I haven't heard of someone getting the payload data.

That being said, could you create a loop in your process where:

Have the user submit the form task regardless of the completion status
A script task updates execution variables after the form task
The same script task checks to see if all form values have inputs after the submission of the form
If variables are empty an exclusive gateway loops the process through a sequence flow back around to reinitialize the form .

Prepopulate form fields with the updated execution variables
