Excel Integration using job server

Question

I am trying to ingest metadata from Excel using Collibra’s connector with Excel using jobserver but getting error. Please see the below screenshot and suggest

Hello @shubhangi.shekhar.tietoevry.com , please excuse the late reply. It is not shown in your screenshot but I am sure your URI is ending with the name of the Excel file, right. Like in this example: sp://https://domain.sharepoint.com/Documents/file.xlsx The error message doesn’t look like it but you could give it a try and configure this parameter. If this does not help I recommend you open a ticket with Collibra Support support.collibra.com so they can analyse the issue. I don’t have a SharePoint server so I can’t test what you are testing. Hi Guido,

We want to try out the data refresh capability from excel and that why we chose the second option for Collibra provided driver. With first option we tried and it works fine.

As you suggested we tried with sharepoint option too but again unable to connect . Helps us out in what is that we are missing. For reference attaching screenshots

Tried with both sp and onedrive option but same results

Also, tried with Property value as SharePointOnline

Please tell us the way forward

Hi @shubhangi.shekhar.tietoevry.com and @krishna.chaitanya.p,

I think this server is hosted by Collibra in the cloud and you do not have access to upload a file. If at all this could only be done by the Collibra operations team.

In any case I would recommend you store the Excel file on a different service like an Amazon S3 bucket or a Sharepoint folder you may have access to. The JDBC driver allows configuring the path to such a service.

If scheduling a refresh of the ingestion is not a must the easiest way to test the ingestion once is to chose the option “Register data source (use your own driver)”.

Then chose Excel from the list. You can then upload your Excel file and ingest it.

I’m from Shubhangi’s Team. Want to add to her response.

We also want to try out scheduling the ingestion. So wanted to try it out through local jobserver. The Collibra Market place documentation (mentioned below) also specifies file path from local. So does Path here mean the path is of Job Server file system?

Thanks @guido.bilstein for your response. We are trying to use local jobserver in the Collibra’s sandbox environment so how and where to upload the excel file in it. URL for sandbox is https://cat-vlab.collibra.com/

Hello @shubhangi.shekhar.tietoevry.com , did you upload the file to the Collibra server or is this a local folder on your machine? As you are using the Collibra local jobserver the file needs to be uploaded to the server. Do you want to load the Excel file just once or do you want to schedule the ingestion? If this is a one off activity you could use a different method to load the file. Best regards, Guido
