Align unique IDs (Asset Types, Attribute Types, Relation Types) on the instances
Summary: In a discussion initiated by Lea Steinmann, they mentioned having different type IDs across their three-system landscape due to creating types individually on each instance. This has led to inconsistencies in type IDs, and they seek a solution to align IDs without deleting or re-uploading data in use. nicolaspirou proposed a method involving backing up target environments, exporting assets with characteristics, then migrating configurations from PRODUCTION to lower instances, and re-importing assets. stefan_busch asked if the export is done using the Migration feature in the settings.
We have a three-system landscape and in the past, we created types (attributes, relations, assets) on each instance using the Global Create button. This resulted in the type IDs being different on the instances. We are now looking for a solution to smooth out these IDs. Does anyone have experience with this or an automated way to do this via script?
The goal would be to align the IDs for Test and Dev with the IDs for Prod without having to delete and re-upload the types. This is because they are in use. If anyone knows of an automated way to do this or has experience with it, I would be very happy to receive an answer.
Thanks in advance for your support!

·1 year agoHi Lea, usually what we do in this case is to
perform a back up of each of your target environments
export your Assets with their characteristics and relations
"move" the configuration from PROD to lower instances (DEV, TEST, etc.) in order to align the Asset types', Attribute types' and Relation types' UUIDs
reimport your Assets with characteristics and relations in the target environments
What do you mean exactly by "they are in use"? Is it for a different use case?

·1 year agoyes for bullet point n°3, via the migration feature.
for bullet point n°2 (export your Assets with their characteristics and relations), you cannot export Assets via the migration feature, so it will be via Asset view exports or via API.
