bulk import a relation between assets
Hi there!
I am looking for a best practice to bulk register a new new asset and define a relation to an already existing asset.
In this specific example I want to create a set of business DQ rules (this is an Asset) and link this to a Column (also Asset). Every DQ rule needs to be linked to one Column.
So I start with making an export view from my list of DQ rules. Then I fill in this sheet where I define this DQ rules.
Ideally, in this sheet i link the rule to the columns that need to be checked. This info comes from another export from the physical data dictionary. Then I import this sheet. After this we want to run a workflow to get the other relevant data like schema/table that apply to the column.
This process consists of many steps and is prone to errors . Do you know of an easier way to do this type of work?

to elaborate:
We are going to administer a lot of DQ rules: one rule per DQ dimension per column. I think we need to since we lack a logical model at the moment.
So, when defining many rules at once, I was thinking about importing all rules at once on a table level.
If you link one column to one asset, all other relations are not put into place automatically. So that is what the other workflow is for.

What is possible, is to already create the relations to the right colums, when creating the DQ Rules. That saves a step, but since you need to do it with Imports, and keep it under control, this seems the easiest way to go for. I don`t think there is a way to automate this completely, assuming there is no 1-1 logic to be found between DQ rule / Column.
However, in the descriptions I do not follow some of the steps, or their value. Could you elaborate:
