Data Category v/s Data Classification
Hi,
We have recently got the Collibra Catalog and currently on version (2021.04.1).
There are two asset types “Data Category” and “Data Classification” and we would really like to understand the difference between them and how others using this and would be curious to know how (recommended options) we can utilize them in our environment.

I do have a doubt on leveraging “Data Category” and “Data Concept”, even “Data Domain” which all falls under Business Dimension. They all comes under “Business Asset” and it’s little confusing as there is a thin line between all these definitions and we are trying to design it so that we don’t duplicate the efforts or over-use two assets for same enterprise asset.
Thoughts ?

In the end, you have to pick something that works for your use case and apply it consistently. There is no silver bullet here, just way too many options to chose from.

·5 years ago · EditedData Classification is a special attribute for the AI/ML process that looks at data samples and other content to guess what classification that would fall under. An example of this would be First Name, Full Name, and many more. Data Category is a more open option to classify assets in Collibra. For example, Biometric Data would be an asset with its own description, owner, and other content. I would tink of these as the same asset with the same usage.
