ideation platform, when are ideas being picked up?
Trying to get an understanding.
Often we are redirected to the ideation platform when we have a feature request,
saying if enough people vote on an idea it might get picked up.
But when will they be picked up?
Here is an idea that already has 120 votes and is “likely to implement”.
https://productresources.collibra.com/ideation-platform/?id=DGCPLAT-I-63
This is a request from 2017 still not implemented
But this one has 65 votes and is planned.
https://ideas.collibra.com/ideas/DGCPLAT-I-704
I’m not really motivated to create new idea’s
and just create a workaround with a risk of breaking changes in the future.

·4 years ago · EditedHi @peggy.mccoy,
You can still find the Ideation Portal at productresources.collibra.com/ideation-platform . For signing in, nothing has changed. For ideas that you published and shared before, these will remain visible, and retain their IDs, URLS, all their comments and votes. In case any of your ideas were archived, you have been informed by email.
We will be sharing more about the relaunch with all customers via our monthly customer email newsletter.

·4 years ago · EditedHello everyone, thank you for all the suggestions and constructive critique here. We have relaunched the Ideation Portal and will continue to improve it. Some highlights:
*One of the internal changes is that the Customer Advisory Managers will be more involved in the ideation process and will have visibility into the ideas you submit.
I agree with @jonas.vanreeth that the interplay between ideation and the community is important. We should add more references from the community forum to the ideas, but also from the ideas back to these forum threads. There is valuable background information here. If you think that’s a good suggestion, please make it part of your feedback.

Looking for Feedback
We’d love to hear your thoughts on all this. In this thread or through this
feedback challenge on the Collibra Innovators channel (50 points)
*An alternative to this would be to increase the number of votes (eg. 100 max.), and allow you to vote more than once for a single idea. Awarding more votes to certain users - for example based on activity here on Community - is currently not possible.arthurburkhardt
·4 years ago · EditedGreat to hear that! Thanks a lot for communicating about it, @ann.wuyts!
There are about 1600 open ideas at this time., a divide and conquer approach might be useful. Do you have any thoughts about making some members as contributors (a la Stackoverflow)?
Many ideas are now implemented, obsolete or irrelevant. Any plans on cleaning out the backlog? Most radical solution would be to simply archive all ideas and let people reactivate them one by one.
Will there be any review session where you would consider including customers? The idea of customer meetups to review the roadmap and discuss about adoption or mitigation strategies has been proposed a few times. It would be super interesting to have such meetings to understand where the product is going, sharing use cases or pain points to contextualize the ideas.
I understand this is now done 1-1 on individual cases, the time might be ripe to hold focus sessions.
Whichever way this goes, it’s fantastic that we’re finally taking those ideas out of the graveyard! I can’t wait!

OP4 years ago · EditedGreat to hear.
I hope that the new approach is going to benefits the users and collibra itself!
I don’t have any more comments/questions than Arthur already mentioned.
jonasvan_reeth
OP4 years ago · EditedMaybe I do got a question.
So the platform has been relaunched or is going to be.
(How) Will this be comunicated among the collibra users?
Not only through this forum, but among every collibra user.
If there are many more of me, then there will be a number of people who had given up on the platform.
Those should be reengaged to get the platform more traction.
Cheers,
Jonas

·4 years ago · EditedThe Ideation Platform has indeed relaunched with the listed changes. You can still expect quick iterations based on the feedback here on the community, the Collibra Innovators Feedback Challenge, and from our internal users. So more changes might follow. All users who were directly impacted - whose old ideas without activity have been archived - have been notified. That happened either through the platform (email) or directly by their Customer Advisory Manager. Users with ideas in the top 200 will soon see updates coming through. In addition, we will be sharing more about the relaunch with all customers via our monthly customer email newsletter.
The persons heavily involved and invested in Ideation are represented here on the community, and on the ideation platform itself. We would like to improve based on your feedback first, and then broaden our communication.
I’ll take re-engage discouraged user (‘gedesillusioneerd’) as a priority feedback suggestion. But I do believe that we need to convince and tailor to ‘you’ as top contributors first.
That said, do you know of any of those people who ‘gave up on the (ideation) platform’? Either at your company, or in your wider circle. We would love to hear from them too what we can do to improve! If so, let me know in a message or at [email protected] so we can reach out to them. (Of course, with their approval.)

OP4 years ago · EditedGreat, good to hear this!
I will share this with my team later today in our daily.
None of them are looking at the ideation platform anymore.
So they might make a good soundboard.

That’s great to hear there are plans to reinvent the ideation platform and I’m definitely looking forward to join. Thanks so much for fighting the good fight!
@grant.sutton fully agreed. Better nothing than false hopes.

·5 years ago · EditedHi everyone,
Thank you for posting this and sharing your feedback on our Ideation platform and process. I have been following this thread and following up internally to gather some information to share with you and I have some (what I hope are) exciting updates.
Our product team is currently evaluating all existing ideas in that platform and is working on a new ideation process that will be released soon. This new process will have quicker response times and closed-loop communications for every submission. Lastly, we’re interested in creating a customer advisory panel to help us in the launch of this new process. We will be reaching out via the community soon to source participants for this panel, so I hope to see you join and add your feedback there as well.
I hope that helps — I want to acknowledge that we see you and your feedback, we recognize that this needs improvement, and we’re excited to bring an improved process to you soon!
Best,
Bridget

Looking forward to the improvements. Given all the emphasis Collibra has made on Community, this should help.

·5 years ago · EditedYou guys are on point - ideation is a sad joke at Collibra. Guess they don’t feel that the people using the product understand what’s needed to make it better. Better to remove the ideation platform that to keep it the way it is.

OP5 years ago · EditedTo bad there isn’t a highlight section on this forum.
This should be on top!

Support kindly redirected me to the ideation board [oh no…]
to upvote an idea from 2017 [oh nooooo…]
and I’m all out of votes! [ooohhh nooooo…]

OP5 years ago · EditedBy making a habit of it to refer on this forum to the ideation platform more often.
Not only give a custom solution, but also give a link to the ideation platform feature request.
Hopefully when we start pointing more to it, others might check it more often.
jonasvan_reeth
OP5 years ago · EditedHey @arthur.burkhardt,
I had a feeling that you didn’t look at it that often, seeing your solutions you give to people here, are also an implementation of topics on the ideation platform.
Wich are great and helpfull, but I hoped that collibra would show more effort in solving these ideas.
Now I have more the feeling that if we have a feature request we are just being brushed off to the platform and to be ignored.
arthurburkhardt
·5 years ago · EditedTrue, I stopped following the ideation platform because I do not think it is useful as it is now.
Legendary contributors such as Tom Dejonghe, Laura Fontan or Ann Wuyts also gave up on it, but looking at it now, it seems there is still some activity.
I wonder what was the drive behind the ideation board, and why the adoption/usage has been so patchy. I can only think that:
Anyways, I’d love some new dynamics around this. There are clearly passionate data citizen around here, I’d be first to contribute brain time to great solutions.
jonasvan_reeth
OP5 years ago · EditedI think that the current activity are new Collibra adopters who are still being pointed at the platform when they have a feature request.
Maybe to give some more traction,
when there is a new idea or function need on this forum,
we should still give an possible solution but also refer them to the ideation platform.
Maybe if we get more traction on the platform, collibra might pick it up more often.
arthurburkhardt
·5 years ago · Edited@jonas.vanreeth: What do you suggest for more traction?
Actually, I’d love for Collibrians to pitch in:

·5 years ago · EditedTrue… I stopped following it after I ran out of votes and could not reprioritize.
