read only attribute - Technical Data Type

Hi,

i have just begun using Collibra and have run into an issue i can’t solve. Hope you can help.
I am trying to enter a value into the attribute Technical Data Type for a column asset type. I get a “not authorised” message:

“You are not allowed to add, edit or remove an attribute whose type is read only.”

I can’t see how to amend the type. Any suggestions?

Yes, Collibra does not allow you to change some attributes. In general those that are the attributes populated by the DB connectors (I tried to find a list of those in Collibra documentation but I failed.). You have these options:

use a scope assignment as suggested above by Graeme - the limitation applies to Global Assignment only OR
define your own custom attribute type (we have textual Data Type Text) OR
define a new asset type as a child of Column - for this one you will be able to use Technical Data Type in the Global assignment without limitations

I had to put the domain into a new scope and add technical data type to the assignment of column asset type. Hopefully you will be able to do the same.

Hi @matthew.taylor. You may want to check with your Collibra Administrator. The error message could be related to the role that you’ve been assigned which is limiting your permissions to add, edit, or remove an attribute.
