How do you handle "Industry Defined" terms in Collibra Glossaries?

So, we have a problem....
While we have been formally governing our Business Glossary with Terms, Acronyms, Measures, and KPIs, that are company specific with clear business owner. We have also been publishing terms and measures that we set the Business Owner as "Industry Defined" as it is a typical term used within our company but is not specific to our business. For example, we have "First Party Data" and we use the normal Google delivered definition and use "Industry Defined" as the Owner metadata attribute.
My questions are:
How do you handle adding these types of terms to your Glossaries?
Do you use the short cut like "industry Defined" as the Owner as a way to move forward without finding a business Owner?
Here is a scenario.
A user complains that when they search Collibra they don't find the terms they are looking for. So, we say - then Google it - they will say "Well I could have done that first - why would I ever use Collibra in the future?".
How do you handle this situation? We want to drive employees to use the Glossary, but we don't want to "govern" hundreds of industry specific terms. This is really prolific in the area of AI now.

·5 months agoYou might also build a couply business lineage diagrams that hoelp people find where terms are defined. I have one that links business terms to systems of record and you can see the data steward and group accountable for maintaining the systems and the business term.

·5 months agoI have a unified terms glossary for universal business terms that people can search and it will come up under global search. I also link terms to physical data assets, so they know when they look at the data dictionary that it's the appropriate definition. Lastly I have built a few automated workflows to copy column descripts across all tables in a database and I focus on defining Views and Reports more than anything.
