How to add multiple assets to a collection or data set at once (preferably from a domain's asset view)?

When you view a domain's assets via the view, you have the option of selecting any number of assets with checkboxes. Once your selection is checked, you see the options for Delete, Move, Validate, etc. There are no options to add to a data set or collection. The only alternative I have seen is to add a table to a data set, which will add the columns. Are there any options to add assets in bulk?

Hi,

I'm not sure what type of assets you are trying to add, so your context may vary. However, you can add assets in bulk using the Import feature. It mostly involves exporting a spreadsheet template with all the fields you need to populate for the asset, filling them in, and reporting the spreadsheet into Collibra.

We have a course on how to use the import feature, Create and Update Assets with the Import Wizard. However, it requires a Collibra University Premium subscription to enroll. You can also learn about the Import feature in our product documentation.

Good luck!

@SeanPyle Hi Sean, thanks for the response. To clarify, I have assets that are already in Collibra which I want to add to a data set. The only way I've seen to do so is from the asset page - meaning I have to add one-by-one or table-by-table. Is there a way I can select multiple assets (such as from the catalog view) or could a workflow be constructed that would allow something of this nature?

@cammiroberts , You can (1) filter the view within a domain to contain only the assets you want to add to the Data Set. Then (2) add the relation Data element is part of Data Set to the view. Edit the column from the view and you should see an option to (3) bulk apply to all rows in the view.

Otherwise, if you don't want to do this for all the assets on a view (e.g. your having trouble filtering the assets down to only what you need to change), you can export the view with the ...is part of... relation, then use excel to bulk edit the relations for the elements you want to add to the data set.

As you mentioned, this is also possible with an API or workflow, but would be more work to set up initially.

Hope that helps!
