Qlik Sense to Collibra Integration

Qlik Sense to Collibra Integration uses q-risotto, a third party software.

Q-risotto was developed by TIQ Solutions in 2016, however, lately, TIQ Solutions have deprecated it and do not provide any support, maintenance, documentation or commercial version.

Does Collibra has any plans to upgrade this integration or suggest an alternative solution?

Thanks.

Hi @khan.ali-mustafa.metlife.co.jp ,

On our side, we’ve built a custom integration of Qlik Sense to Collibra by leveraging Qlik-CLI on one side, and Collibra’s import API on the other, if that can help

Kind regards,

Max

Hi @maximilien.cote.1 , have you considered pushing that to the marketplace ?

@spring-team.collibra.com Can you chime in on this by chance? Also, @arthur.burkhardt, I know you’ve replied to a different post about Qlik Sense so maybe you have some insight?

Only insight is that I echo what @khan.ali-mustafa.metlife.co.jp has described, and Qlik is not well supported at this time. Fantastic solution proposed by @maximilien.cote.1!

In our case, we currently ingest data with a semi-manual process based on data extracts from the Qlik Repository, and we’re in the midst of integrating a third-party data lineage solution, Octopai, to extract metadata from Qlik and push to Collibra. This will also enable us to retrieve data lineage through the different QVDs.
We were hoping for a native integration, but it seems less and less likely it will happen.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • The Qlik Sense metamodel has an identifying relation between QlikApp and measures, and QlikApp and visualizations, but not between measures and visualizations, which is often what the business users want to see. So far, Octopai will not allow us to retrieve visualizations and we don’t have a plan yet to retrieve those.
  • Google data catalog has published code to extract qlik metadata, we briefly consider to use this as well. They provide a very clear diagram of the Qlik metamodel: Google Data Catalog and Qlik Sense metadata integration | by Ricardo Mendes | Google Cloud - Community | Medium

I really hope to see better Qlik support in Collibra in the future, especially the possibility to have a context-aware browser extension!

Kind regards,

Hello hello,

Sorry for the late reply! Here’s the global picture of this integration. The issue we ran into is that we have :

  • Hundreds of dimension fields and KPIs, projected on both spatial and time dimensions.
  • Sometimes users base their reports on variables, which makes it all the harder to understand what’s hiding behind it
