Pulling Tags from Snowflake to Collibra

Hi everyone,

What is the best way to pull the tags that are applied to attributes (schemas, tables, columns) in Snowflake data source and map them back to their corresponding attributes in Collibra?
Is there a custom integration needed to achieve that? What level of access does the service account, used for integration between Collibra and Snowflake, need to have in order to pull these tags into Collibra attributes?

Hi, Farah. We are on that same journey to use tags in Snowflake and pull that information, categorization into Collibra. We’ve given a read level role to the service account, but we are just getting to the ingestion stage using Edge. I can let you know how it came out in a few more days, once a few other steps are completed with the configuration. We have a cross-region set-up and the data security is killing me. The connection worked fine from the Jobserver, but tags are not part of the old driver. If you get the tags working first, let us know. Thanks,
… Jim

Thanks Jim for sharing your journey and all the best with your integration! For me , we have completed the connection setup and we were able to pull the columns names and types from SF. We are still exploring the capability of bringing tags and other pieces of Metadata . Thanks!

Dear Farah, please kindly note that the Source Tags Synchronization from Snowflake via Edge is currently in Beta. More information can be found in the [documentation] FYI @krzysztof.nocun.collibra.com (https://productresources.collibra.com/docs/collibra/latest/Content/Catalog/RegisterDataSource/Edge/SynchronizeSchemas/co_about-synchronizing-schemas.htm?Highlight="source%20tags"#source-tag)

Thanks, Farah. I was able to resolve the connection issue by using snowflake’s latest JAR file (snowflake-jdbc-3.13.29.jar). My customer is now able to see their tags and make adjustments going forward. I’m glad you were successful as well.
