Release notes 2022.08
I was reading Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud - 2022.08 Release Notes., which contain a lot of very minute details.
.
…and suddenly in the very last bullet point of the release notes, I read…
Collibra is proud to launch a brand new feature, Data Marketplace. Data Marketplace allows for an easy search experience through Data Catalog assets.
Data Marketplace is a beta feature that needs to be activated. The following settings are available in Collibra Console:
- Data Marketplace
- Search over relations
- Consistency for custom facets and Search over relations
.
Now you get my full attention! How come this was not even in the highlights of the release notes???
I’m impatient to try this out. Searching over relations and custom search facets have been a long time pain and I’m curious to see how we can leverage those functionalities to provide better experience.
I guess this will not be available within the DIC interface, but only in an external data marketplace platform, but hopefully this becomes available in DIC as well!
What are your highlights in the latest release notes?

It is great to see your enthusiasm about the public beta of Data Marketplace. As a user of our own product, I completely share your enthusiasm. I’ve had the opportunity to already test the Data Marketplace with our Collibra Data Sets and Reports and it truly brings a marketplace search experience for pure data consumer and enables them to find what they are looking for in terms of data and that in the broadest sense of the word: data sets, tables, reports, dashboards, queries, etc. (Through Setting you can configure what you make available for data consumers through the data marketplace based on filters on asset types, status, etc.)
However it has been a conscious decision by the Product and Product Marketing team to not over emphasise the deployment of these public betas (Data Marketplace and Data Samples on Edge) because these are effectively still in a public beta stage.
Please notice as well the information icon in the Release Notes next to Beta Releases and the link to the beta disclaimer
As always thank you for your feedback!

·4 years ago · EditedHi @arthur.burkhardt, thank you for your feedback. This is really valuable for us. While we try to please as many customers as possible, we are aware that there’s still room for improvement. I will take this feedback to my team and evaluate how we can make such announcements more prominent. The reason why it’s not included in the Highlights section is because it’s beta and this section only contains subjects that are GA.

Thanks for the this post
Happy to hear that you share our excitement with this release. Data Marketplace has been developed with only loose connections to the DIC, but towards GA we will further invest in embedding this deeper into the user journey.
That is also the reason why the announcement is only at the end of the release notes. The pole position is kept for GA. I hope you will still be that excited at that time
Yet, we are acknowledging that you raise a fair point and we can find ways to hint earlier in the release notes that there is something hot coming out in beta.
