Consolidating Divisions Under Federated Model

Question

We have historically employed a federated operating model, where each division manages their own DG program in a single instance of Collibra. Communities and domains are used to segregate the assets for each division.

Two of our divisions are being consolidated into a new division. We are planning what needs to be done, from a Collibra perspective, to consolidate the two divisions. Has anyone experienced this before and can provide some perspective on what we should be considering and what issues to watch out for, as we execute on the consolidation?

You should specifically look at resolving uniqueness conflicts.

Avoid conflicting identifiers
- Community names must be unique
- Domain names must be unique within a community
- Asset names must be unique within a domain
Avoid duplicates
- Do you have multiple assets for the same business terms? You will need to slowly and painfully resolve them one by one, merging two business glossaries by examining assets one by one and deciding whether they can be aligned.
Rename domains/communities to reflect the new structure. Feel free to append text to the names of domains to reflect their origin while you are gradually working towards full integration.
