Data Retention policies

Hello,

I am wondering about the data retention capabilities of Collibra. Can collibra send reminders if the data is expired and needs to be retired if we set policies.

Please share any documentation related to data retention policies.

Hi Shikha,

Be aware that some of your policies may require retention dates to be calculated on things like “date last accessed” - so if your (source of truth) data store does not support this type of audit capability, then this is likely to impact the practicalities of whether you can run a retention and disposal policy over that data store.

Records management typically needs to consider three things:

The trigger date (e.g. life of asset from date of acquisition, date record was last used, date of cessation of employment etc.)
The retention period that kicks in from this date (typically in years, check your legislative and Board requirements, also note that any legal proceedings can impact this)
The disposal action to take on the record once the retention period has elapsed (e.g. destroy, archive, transfer etc.)

You may want to consider some custom Governance assets which can be applied to Data assets.

You would have to implement it yourself with a custom model and custom workflows.

There is nothing OOTB that I’m aware of
