Enrichment of data elements

Hello Dear Citizens,
I am a new user of Collibra and looking for a practical way to enrich Data Elements (columns added to a data set in logical data dict.)
Is there a way of import excel file for data columns to be able to enrich each column at the same time?

Dear Carl and Arthur,
Thank you very much for your kind help and guidance.
At the end I achieved; Unfortunately I was trying on Logical Data Dictionary. When I go for Physical one I was able to import all column details as bulk.

Great to see you participating here!

Arthur’s advice is always brilliant and I have the benefit of knowing you a little.

There are a couple of very easy ways of quickly enriching existing assets. It’s often a good idea to make a view containing the assets and characteristics you want to see so that you really understand which characteristics are required against the different asset types you’re maintaining.

Next, you can either 1) enter the values you need directly into the view or 2) use Excel to import them in bulk.

If you export the view (even the data is sparse) this gives you a template Excel file to work with that you can then re-import. Tick the box that says ‘add the characteristics needed for import’ to make your life easier when you want to re-import.

Indeed, you can export/import/update assets with excel: Import assets (collibra.com)

As a new user, you might also benefit from the free university courses, or booking bootcamps (classroom or self-paced virtual labs), they are the best way to jumpstart your collibra journey.

I’m not sure I follow.
Data elements work exactly like any other types of assets, so the excel import should work just as well.
If you define a view with your columns, export/import and everything is updated in one go.

There’s one gotcha though: “Column” asset type has some read-only attributes, such as ordinal position. To work around that, you need to define a custom scope and add those attributes in the assignment. Then you can export/import in excel as you want.

Hi Arthur,
Thank you for your kind response and the information,
Collibra university is so useful and I am watching as much I can to learn more.
For the import, I am able to use this feature for business terms or data tables.
The issue is, I couldn’t find and import button on data elements section.

After I add some data element to a set, I need to go one by one into the columns itself to be able to enrich column details (description, gatekeeper, confidentiality etc.)
Do you know also Collibra has a easy way for column enrichment?
