Filter your screen by only data assets selected

Hi all
Is there a way to filter your screen view / glossary/ catalog, etc. for just data assets that you selected via the checkbox on the far left hand side. So…for example, in our data catalog there might be 10 data elements with the same name but they are associated with different tables. I only want to see 4 particular ones on the screen by themselves without the others. Can I “filter” the view for only the 4 items I selected with the checkbox? Thanks !!!

If all of the assets you want to display are in one domain you could create a view and try to edit the view via the filters to only display the assets you need. But this would need some work and might not 100% .

Yes, all good ideas, and indeed the ideation platform is the best place for such feedback.

@barry.goldstein: that’s correct, something like “Add to data set” is what I had in mind, nice catch! There is no such functionality available today.

I do not know of any functionality like that currently in Collibra. Might be a good idea for their ideation platform. I would liken your description to the “compare items” you see in many retail websites - a compare might be useful when trying to determine best column or report.

Hi Arthur and everyone else:
Thanks very much for looking at this. In the Data Catalog I was able to select certain data elements and select the “Add to Data Set” button to create a data set for only those selected. Is this what you were referring to when you mentioned “Add to Collection.” However, I do not see anything like this available for the Business Glossary?

In my original question - even I could somehow sort the view for only those selected that would also be helpful to zero in on certain items.

Ah, really interesting. I don’t think it’s possible at this time.
Some newcomer discovering collibra for the first time asked me if it was possible to bookmark datasets so that they could easily find them.

While I can think of a few workarounds, there is not elegant way of doing this sort of “custom selection”, whether temporary (for your use case) or persistent (for mine).

I don’t know what would be the best way to phrase it, but maybe something like “Asset collections” might be it?

select assets from a list
click “Add to collection”
search existing collection or create new collection
save and go to collection

Would such a feature meet what you’re looking to do?
