Make asset pages pretty
I received a pretty hurtful comment today regarding the look of asset pages in Collibra.
And I have to say it was hard to argue… This is the page that led to the comment
While it looks fine as a table, the asset page seems just plain empty.
Are there any updates to the idea submitted in 2017 to allow multi-columns layout in the asset page?

Even just a better default layout would be great.
Instead of listing attributes one after the other with a lot of whitespace, stacking them on a 3-column layout would already be a great improvement.

·1 year agoCollibra’s Product Design and UX Research teams are looking for people to participate in an upcoming research study about asset page UX.
For this study, we are looking to connect with non-Admin users. If that’s not you, we’d be very grateful if you could help us connect with some of your colleagues.
Specifically, we are looking to speak to people who regularly:
Author asset pages (edit content in existing asset page fields only; no Admin responsibilities such as asset type page layout)
Search for and view asset pages (data consumer only; no asset admin or attribute editing as described above)
Here’s what participation would entail:
A 60-minute Zoom session the weeks of March 24-28 or April 7-11
During the session, we’ll discuss participants’ work, review current asset pages, and get feedback on updated asset page preliminary concepts
The session will be recorded for internal use only
Those interested can contact me at [email protected]. Thank you for your support as we work to improve asset pages!

I’m Ellesa Sabasaje, User Experience Researcher for Collibra. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a few of you folks here in our sessions. I’m working closely with the product design team to make some big changes to our asset pages.
First of all, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this thread. These are very helpful and insightful for our design team.
Now, we have a lot of ideas to make asset pages better, but we realized that what you think matters too (aside from the helpful feedback you’ve shared here).
If you haven’t checked it out already, here’s a link to the channel and community challenge:
What do you think of our asset pages? Share your feedback!
Alternatively, you may also use this direct link to the survey:

·4 years ago · EditedHi Gunnar! We were scheduled to have the survey running until 18 Mar (midnight CET) so we could start the analysis, but, you know what, I’m going to open it for a little while longer for ya. Please try the link again.

Please be advised that I have personally been asking for the ability to be more creative with the way information is displayed on the Asset page for over 8 years now. Including bringing this up a various meetme meetings in London.
I have also received negative comments from Collibra users about the content and layout and the complete wast of space on the screen, not to mention the need to have the mouse travel from one side of the screen to another to perform an edit.
What I cannot understand is this, if VBA/VB and ASP can provide the ability to build simple and complex forms to engage with the users, how come a multi billion pound company like Collibra cannot?

OP4 years ago · Edited@roeland.herrebosch.collibra.com: I see more and more use of “tabs” within the UX which is GREAT.
It would be awesome to be able to configure tabs, and even more handsome to be able to define view permissions on tabs. This would enable so many use cases where you want to control who can see what (e.g. sample data on data sets, or financials on contracts).
If anyone is interested for use cases where you mix internal and confidential data on a single asset, you can vote here: Manage partial visibility of asset pages | Ideation Platform – Collibra | Product Resource Center

·4 years ago · EditedThanks for bringing this up, Arthur. I agree, and have added my vote to the idea on ideation. My colleague brought this up just this morning this in the context of the Print function on the asset page. Having something that more closely resembles the pre-existing document it is to succeed would make it easier for our users to adopt.

·4 years ago · EditedThis is definitely a big one. As mentioned earlier, we are losing opportunities to SharePoint because of this. We also have a lot of pushback from people who have used other data catalogs: data.world, Select Star, Castor, etc. Making improvements here is vital to adoption and usage.

·4 years ago · EditedThank you for your feedback. We started recently a project to look into this issue of how presenting the information on asset pages in a way that makes it more attractive and understandable. We will reach out on the mentioned ideation ticket once we have a better view on how we can address this issue in a way that is scalable and manageable.

OP4 years ago · EditedGreat to hear!
If you’re ever interested, we have collected some feedback from users on similar technologies and how they’ve solved it, e.g. Salesforce Lightning.

·4 years ago · EditedHi @arthur.burkhardt,
I fully agree with your point. An asset with many attributes and relations is really hard to look at in Collibra, as everything is displayed one below the other. There is definitely room for improvement in the UI / UX of the asset page.

·4 years ago · EditedAbsolutely! I don’t think Collibra realizes the importance of the beauty contest. We lose opportunities to SharePoint, ServiceNow and other platforms not considered in this space because the UX is so much better.

OP4 years ago · EditedAhahah, great to see I’m not alone.
In my case I lost opportunities to Sharepoint (sharepoint lists) and Salesforce Lightning.
