Operating model with containers to hold Community, Business Dimensions etc.
‘Community’ is a container that is required in the design to manage access control (who has access to what sub-community data)
‘Business Dimensions’ are required to add any ‘business asset’ items into a container.
Diagrams do not display either the ‘Community’ or the ‘Business Dimensions’. ‘Assets’ appear on the diagrams but we need containers like the Community, ‘Business Dimensions’ to keep things grouped.
We have a simple use case of a business hierarchy to be setup with permissions given to people under sub-communities and the diagrams to display the hierarchy.
Organization
Should contain assets belonging to default Organization
Org1 [control who has access to this level]
Should contain assets belonging to Org1
Org2 [control who has access to this level]
Should contain assets belonging to Org1
Org3 [control who has access to this level]
Should contain assets belonging to Org1
However, we’re unable to configure this simple setup
Top Organization [Type: Community]
Top Org level Technology Asset Domain
Top Org level Glossaries
Org1 [Type: Community]
Community is required to add Glossaries, Technology Assets, Logical Assets that belong to Org1 and community is also required for access control
Org1 [Type: Business Dimensions]
‘Business Dimensions’ is required to add assets such as ‘Business Dimension’, ‘Business Process’ etc.
This is where it is falling apart for us. Notice that we need to create Org1 as a community add the Glossaries etc. and then create Org1 as a Business Dimensions to add business assets.
The end users want one Org entry representing their department and everything (all types of assets and business assets) under it
How should we be considering our operating model design?

·4 years ago · EditedYou should be able to add Business Dimension domain type under Org1. No assets belong in a community.
Check settings to see which domain type contains Business Dimension and add to Org1: Type Community.
Note: I typically break down Business Dimension into Line of Business, Business Function, Business Process, etc or something along those lines.
