Technical Lineage and the Data Diagram
Good morning,
What is the official difference between technical lineage and the diagram? I know the physical difference, but why don't they work in conjunction?

Not sure if you came across this page.
It has a pretty good comparison of technical lineage and business lineage (which I think you mean by the diagram).
Hope that helps!

·2 years agoDiagrams was a legacy bit of functionality, then along came SQLdep https://www.collibra.com/us/en/company/newsroom/press-releases/collibra-announces-acquisition-of-sqldep, which landed as Technical Lineage in the Asset Type's page. So Collibra spin legacy as 'business' and the other as 'technical'. None of what I'm saying is negative; Diagrams and Technical Lineage and both very handy. I'd suggest in due course there will be convergence, and a refresh ("Diagrams 2.0" ->> might be a thing for Data Citizens '25). Worth noting, Technical Lineage can give you the underlying code. This is not metadata, its real code.
I wish Collibra produced more (supported) OOTB or marketplace diagrams, to better leverage the OOTB knowledge graph.
