Using iframe to create search but have results open in another window

Hi,
Our team has developed an iframe widget which is linked to an underlying custom search. The iframe is embedded onto one of our dashboards. When a user search’s for a term the result are returned in the window frame - is it possible to have the return search open on a new tab?
Is this a limitation that we will need to live with?

The goal we have is to have a number of custom searches available for users from a dashboard -linking them to the filter URLs we have created .

Alternatively, if you’re looking to keep the search results in the the parent window, this function works too:

Yes of course, assuming your search widget is JavaScript based:

window.open(“url”, “_blank”)
