Build your system of engagement for data
You have enough data - you just need more insight from it.
End-to-end data intelligence
Collibra and SAP have partnered to provide organizations an end-to-end view of their data landscape, delivering a complete data catalog with data lineage spanning both SAP and nonSAP systems. With the integration of Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud and SAP Datasphere, our joint customers can establish a data governance and privacy foundation and deliver trusted data for every user, across every source.
Intelligence about data gives the context and insight you need to maximize its value. Since 80% of your operational data typically comes from SAP applications, you must be able to combine that data with data from other operational sources, such as Salesforce and ServiceNow, and with third-party data providers. That’s the way to generate insights and make data-driven decisions that power your business. For visibility and engagement across your organization, Collibra helps users easily find, understand, trust, and access the data they need to drive better business outcomes.
Data is by most estimates your most valuable asset. In today’s sprawling and complex system environments, data governance is crucial to optimal business performance. With robust data governance, you build trust in data and empower users to make strategic decisions and move the business forward faster.
Collibra provides rich context about data by connecting business, technical, and privacy metadata with quality and lineage to drive better understanding and usage of data. You can understand where your data has been, how it has changed, and what it means.
Collibra also helps you automate data governance processes and workflows, breaking downsilos and reducing manual, time–consuming efforts.
With Collibra, SAP customers can leverage much more than the power of a data catalog. Our partnership does indeed help customers govern, share context and collaborate across SAP and non–SAP data, for example. But it also embodies a shared vision for maintaining compliance with privacy requirements.
Collibra helps you improve productivity and empower your data users to make data-driven decisions. Users gain a unified view of your data and can easily and quickly discover, understand, trust, and access data while supporting privacy requirements
The business problem with inferior data quality
… This industry solution brief shares key insights on how higher education institutions can use Collibra to build a common foundation of data so they can speed data discovery, improve data literacy (understanding of data) and drive greater collaboration with trustworthy data both within and across institutions.

Overcoming data challenges
Educational institutions operate in a highly complex data landscape with large volumes of data residing in hundreds of disparate data sources. These sources are spread across on-premises, hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
Data citizens - including chief information officers, data scientists, researchers, data stewards and university employees at large - are unable to find or understand the data they need. It is difficult for users to ascertain if the data comes from a trustworthy source, whether it is certified or approved for use. In other words, data citizens are unable to fully appreciate the corpus of data and its relevance for use in their applications.
For any educational Institution, the inability to find the right data coupled with data integrity issues, a lack of data governance, transparency and traceability of data can adversely impact their ability to serve students and faculty in a timely and secure manner.
To speed digital transformation and data modernization initiatives, educational institutions are looking for ways to leverage their data to drive improvements and efficiencies. The goals of the initiatives are to make data available, accessible, reusable and shareable. This requires the implementation of a rigorous data governance and management strategy that accounts for all data assets created, collected, controlled and maintained by each institution. This not only includes student data, but also data related to facilities, land management, policing, alumni relations, etc. Furthermore, educational institutions are increasingly required to make trustworthy information available for public consumption. This enables greater accountability and transparency across programs and spending to better serve their students and faculty.
Drive innovation with trusted data
… Collibra can help Texas agency data management offices not only stand up and comply with the SB475 mandate, but also enable them to mature and succeed in their data governance efforts.

Empowering data management offices
In an effort to enhance data governance and management within state and local governments, as well as educational institutions and universities, Texas passed a significant bill, SB475. This landmark legislation mandates the appointment of Data Management Officers (DMOs) for all state agencies with 150 or more employees. As Texas is the largest economy state-wide, it’s crucial for agencies to ensure they comply with this legislation and prioritize data governance maturity.
The Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) plays a vital role in facilitating the transition towards more effective data management. Neil Cook, the Chief Data Officer (CDO) of Texas DIR, is tasked with overseeing the onboarding of DMOs and the establishment of data offices for eligible agencies. Many of these agencies are facing challenges, including:
Appointing the Data Management Officer: The first challenge for agencies is finding and appointing a suitable DMO who can oversee and manage their data governance and management efforts.
Establishing the data management approach and processes : Agencies need to inventory data, create a glossary, and establish how data is classified, consumed, and managed. This process can be overwhelming due to data sprawl and limited resources, especially in smaller agencies without dedicated data scientists or analysts.
Building a complete view of their data: To achieve effective data governance, agencies must consolidate their data management functions into a single pane-of-glass, making it easier to find, understand, manage and trust data.
With the first SB475 assessment deadline having passed for 2022, and the next one coming up on November 15, 2023, newly appointed DMOs must demonstrate value and progress in their data governance framework. The Collibra Data Intelligence Cloud can help these data management offices not only stand up and comply with the SB475 mandate, but also enable them to mature and succeed in their data governance efforts.
… This industry solution brief shares key insights on how federal agencies can use Collibra to build a common foundation for data enabling them to securely and quickly govern data, protect classified and sensitive information, and enable data integrity at scale.

Overcoming data challenges
Federal agencies operate in a highly complex and regulated data landscape with petabytes of data residing in hundreds of disparate data sources. These sources are spread across on-premises, hybrid, and even multi-cloud environments.
Data citizens – including Chief Data Officers, data scientists, data stewards, and government employees at large – are unable to easily find or understand the data they need. It is difficult for users to ascertain if the data comes from a trustworthy source, whether it is certified, or approved for use. In other words, data citizens are unable to fully appreciate the corpus of data and its relevance for use in their applications.
For any agency, the inability to find the right data combined with data integrity issues, a lack of data governance, transparency, and traceability of data can adversely impact their ability to serve constituents or critical missions in a timely, efficient, and secure manner.
To address these issues, the Federal Data Strategy and the Foundations for Evidence-based Policymaking Act provide a framework for agencies to overcome data silos. The goals of these initiatives are to make data available, accessible, re-useable, and shareable. This requires the implementation of a rigorous data intelligence and management strategy that accounts for all data assets created, collected, controlled, and maintained by each agency.
