Notification from Console in case of errors
Hello there.
I doesn’t happen a lot, but last week our DEV environment went down a couple of times. I`m looking for a way to automatically inform some administrators when either our PROD or DEV environment is going down. I cannot find anything yet, but does somebody has any solution for this?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and ideas!
Regards,

·5 years ago · EditedThat our instances are down or slow happen quite often to us. We have implemented a Synthetic User Monitoring with our enterprise solution, so check the login page and api docs page http response time. As here is mentioned, we would like to have an datadog agent running, the aggregate the logs and have a better overview. This is not possible in the cloud environment for us yet, but we speak to our customer advisory about that.
We have several issues detected:

On top of that, I would reach out to your infra team/security team to see if they have any enterprise tooling for monitoring. Examples would be dynatrace, datadog or similar tools, which acts similarly to what Alvin was mentioning, but with much more functionality and enterprise reliability.
An example would be to regularly (every 5min) ping for the health of your application, either by calling a rest API on the DGC platform or the console (asking for the health of the node). This allows to 1. notify relevant users 2. monitor and report uptime 3. detect any performance issues.
This is usually best practice an an enterprise setting.

You could write a small script that queries the console API to actively track the status of your instance and send a notification when the instance goes down.
If you’re on the Collibra’s intelligence cloud I would advise against going down the option above until you’ve spoken to your customer advisory director/manager (CAM). Collibra’s taken significant steps towards becoming a SAAS company and their support model has improved loads over the last year. Admittedly, part of working with a SAAS company should include an expectation of Collibra to notify you if your instance goes down.
Having had a similar conversation on our side, our CAM was very forthcoming with potential options. I highly recommend having a similar conversation with yours
